What this notice covers

This notice explains which personal data are processed when you visit this website, for what purpose and on what legal basis, and what rights you have. Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable person (Art. 4 (1) GDPR).

This website is deliberately built to minimise data: it sets no cookies for analytics or advertising, embeds no tracking services, and loads fonts, images and videos exclusively from our own server. External content is only loaded after an explicit click.

The supervisory authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Postfach 20 04 44, 40102 Düsseldorf, Germany (www.ldi.nrw.de). You may also contact the supervisory authority of your habitual residence.

Accessing the website and server log files

Each time a page is accessed, your browser transmits technically necessary data to the server hosting this website. These are stored in server log files:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of access
  • name and address of the file retrieved
  • volume of data transferred
  • notification of whether the retrieval was successful (HTTP status code)
  • the previously visited page (referrer), if your browser transmits it
  • the browser and operating system used

The purpose of this processing is to deliver the page, to ensure trouble-free operation and to investigate and defend against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in the secure and stable operation of this website.

Log data are stored only for as long as is necessary for these purposes and are then deleted. These data are not merged with other data sources and are not evaluated for advertising purposes.

Hosting

This website is operated at an external service provider: Alfahosting GmbH, Edmund-von-Lippmann-Straße 13-15, 06112 Halle (Saale), Germany. The provider operates its server capacity in Germany.

The provider processes the data arising when the site is accessed exclusively on our behalf and on our instructions, on the basis of a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

Cookies and browser storage

This website sets no cookies. A single entry is stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage):

Records that you have acknowledged the notice about cookies and external content, so that it does not reappear on every page view. The entry contains no personal data and is not transmitted to us or to third parties.

The legal basis for this storage is § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG: it is necessary in order to provide the service you have requested – permanently dismissing the notice.

You can delete the entry at any time via your browser settings. The website works fully without it. No language preference is stored; the language follows solely from the address you call up.

Maps (Google Maps)

On the “Contact” and “Locations” pages we embed map sections from Google Maps. The map is not loaded automatically: as long as you do not explicitly click “Load map”, you only see a schematic preview and no connection to Google is established.

Only when you click does your browser load the map from Google. Your IP address and further browser data are transmitted to Google in the process. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. A transfer to Google LLC in the USA cannot be ruled out; Google bases such transfers on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, in addition, on standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR.

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR in conjunction with § 25 (1) TDDDG. Your consent applies only to the individual page view and is not stored; reloading the page without clicking the map again completes the withdrawal.

Explainer videos

The explainer videos on this website are stored on our own server. No external video service is embedded; in particular, no content is loaded from YouTube or Vimeo and no data are transmitted to such services.

A video is only transferred once you start it by clicking the play button. The same server log data arise as when a page is accessed (see above).

Contacting us by telephone, email or post

If you contact us, we process the information you provide – your name, contact details and the content of your enquiry – in order to deal with your request.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the enquiry serves to initiate or perform a contract; otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.

We delete the data as soon as your request has been conclusively dealt with and no statutory retention obligations prevent deletion. The statutory retention periods under § 257 HGB and § 147 AO apply to commercial and business correspondence and to tax-relevant documents.

Enquiry form

The enquiry form lets you describe your project to us. Only the fields you have completed are transmitted. The information is sent by email to our company mailbox and processed there; it is not stored in a database on the web server.

The legal basis and retention period correspond to the section “Contacting us by telephone, email or post”.

Job applications via the enquiry form

If you select “Job application” in the enquiry form, you can attach application documents. We then process the details you provide together with the content of the transmitted files – typically a CV, a covering letter and references.

The processing serves solely to carry out the application procedure. The legal basis is section 26(1) sentence 1 of the German Federal Data Protection Act in conjunction with Art. 88 GDPR (decision on entering into an employment relationship) and Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

The documents are transmitted by email to our company mailbox and processed there. The files are not stored on the web server; they are not retained once the email has been sent.

If no employment relationship comes about, we delete your application documents no later than six months after the procedure has concluded. That period reflects the limitation period under the German General Equal Treatment Act. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected. If you would like us to keep your documents on file for future vacancies, please let us know – we will then store them on the basis of your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you may withdraw at any time.

The documents are not passed on to third parties. Within the company, only those involved in the selection procedure have access.

Providing data and attaching documents is voluntary. Without this information, however, we cannot process an application. You are welcome to send us your documents by email or by post instead.

Recipients of the data

We do not pass your data on to third parties. The following are excepted:

  • the hosting provider named above, as a processor,
  • Google, if you explicitly load the map,
  • authorities and courts, insofar as we are legally obliged to do so.

Data are neither sold nor passed on for advertising purposes.

No automated decision-making

Automated decision-making, including profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR, does not take place.

Encrypted transmission

This website is delivered over an encrypted connection (TLS). You can recognise this by “https://” in your browser’s address bar. Data transmitted between your browser and the server therefore cannot be read by third parties.

Changes to this notice

We adapt this notice when the technical set-up of this website or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies in each case.
